Many claim there’s a movement to make religion the cornerstone of government, but that’s a misunderstanding. The most dangerous actors in this trend aren’t motivated by faith, in fact: they don’t truly believe in anything. They’re opportunists, using whatever tools are most effective for control. Chief among those tools: lies.
They know most people don’t read or study religious texts, so they exploit and twist those very texts, knowing that very few will check, to justify their power grabs. But the source material, when read honestly, doesn’t support their agenda in many cases.
There are many not motivated by faith, but by self-interests disguised as piety. “A wolf in sheep’s clothing” if you will. These are not true believers, these are sycophantic nihilists.
